Weekend Rewind: 7.11.10

It's been a long time since I've put out my normal frequency of posts. Well, a week. Okay, so not a loooonnnnggg time, but it feels like it's been way too long. Anyway, we're all fine and have been keeping ourselves busy (when our internal organs weren't bursting into flames from the heat over the last week). And while we were running here and there and doing this and that, some great stuff started happening.

Curious? Read on.

My little girl's first birthday is coming up.

Seriously. When did that happen? Just yesterday I was as big as a house and my feet looked like miniature Michelin men stuck to the ends of my ankles.

Now I'm planning the first of many, many birthday parties and struggling between my intense creative nature and my deep desire to keep it simple.

And I'm going to end up writing a post on this, I'm sure. Maybe another Why We Chose. Maybe a Make or Buy. Either way, I'm going to show you what I did with this:

And these:

I'm pretty sure you're gonna like it {sing songy voice here}.

Adding to my massive denial of my baby girl turning one,

Sheesh, baby, can't you give your mama's poor broken heart a break?

Seriously. When did that happen? Just yesterday she was so tiny I could hold her in one hand and when I sat her down somewhere, she. stayed. there.

Now? Now confidence just pours from her. Now she moves on those perfectly squat legs. One step, two steps, lunge and face plant.

Baby steps. Literally baby steps.

Now for "stuff in the works", and there's a lot of it to share tonight. So much wonderfulness.

First of all, I've been working diligently on my next product review. I gave you a hint before. Did you figure it out? Here's another hint:

Oh but it gets better. Because whatever it is that I'm reviewing, I'm not gonna make any promises, but there just might be a giveaway involved. { nods, yes there is }

But you didn't hear it from me.

:: CUATRO ::

I made a birthday tutu.

I confess, I did. I bought yards and yards (and yards) of tulle and I sat in our one air conditioned room, and I made the munchkin a birthday tutu.

While I was at Joann buying tulle, I started chatting with this very creative, friendly mama and we hit it off. Before I knew it, we were exchanging business cards and later on, emails.

And guess what? She wants to do a giveaway on for an adorable item from her etsy shop.

I've been to her shop. And it's very very good stuff. You will be happy friends when you get to browse her shop too.

For now, I remain quiet.

So what's that now? That's a lot of announcements right there: { 1 } my baby girl is turning one! { 2 } and she's walking! { 3 } and i've got an awesome review/giveaway for something we all love! { 4 } and i have an etsy artist giveaway coming!

Could there possibly be more?

Why yes, yes there could.

Sean is starting Weight Watchers tomorrow. And you all know how much I love WW. I'll be writing lots more about our journey together, including providing tips, recipes, progress reports, etc.

Yesterday I made roasted chickpeas as a healthy snack.

this isn't the news, but aren't they yummy anyway?

So here's my exciting news (and hopefully you'll be as stoked about this as Sean and I are):

We will be partnering with Weight Watchers on our weight-loss adventure! Sean's WW for Men online membership is being sponsored by WW and I am considered a freelancer for them for at least the next three months. Holla!

How awesome is that? So stay tuned and tell your friends about the new Healthy Schmealthy section of Lots of great posts coming. Let me know if you have any specific requests or ideas. After all, I write for you. :)

That's all I've got for now, but I'll be back tomorrow with more.

:: SEIS ::

I lied; I'm back now.

I have post ideas out the wazoo these days and only so many free hours to churn them out. One of the ones I'm working on (if by "working on", you mean "thinking about") is about baby food. With the munchkin eating more and more solids, I want to {1} not go broke buying meals from target, and {2} find healthy ways to feed her things that no longer resemble strained mush.

Today on the Facebook page, someone asked for recipe ideas. I want to come back with some great ideas, but there are also some great resources out there on the interwebz. Here are a few of my favorites:

So there you are, Beth. My posts will come, especially as I try more and more recipes for my little iBaby, but these are some good sites to get you started.

Okay, I'm really done now. See you tomorrow!
