My 30s were rad. I mean really, really fabulous. I started by marrying my best friend, we created five homes together, bought two houses, gave birth to two amazing little humans, watched in awe as those two awesome little people fell in love with Jesus, made amazing friends, and served the Lord together in countless ways. Most importantly, 39 capstoned a beautiful season by using many circumstances to help me discover who I really am.
I’m welcoming 40 with open arms, celebration, noisy fanfare, and a sleeve tattoo. Because maybe it took 480 months to figure out who I am, but God-willing, I have unnumbered more to live that out. So, to honor the Lord for bringing me to the four-decade mark, here are a few things I’ve learned over the years, that will help make the next 40 infinitely more awesome.
- Grace is a beautiful thing. Extend it to as many people as possible without abandon. There is not a single person on Earth who doesn’t need it, and not a single situation where it’s not appropriate. Also, extend it regularly to yourself.
- One of the most heroic things you can do, is to apologize first. Doesn’t matter if you feel you were at fault initially (or at all).
